Formal and invigilated examinations

If your course includes a formal or invigilated exam, it will take place during the final assessment period. You’ll be able to see the exact date and time in your Formal Exam Schedule, which will be released six weeks before the exam period begins. Keep an eye on your student email (UMail) - you’ll get a notification when your schedule is available.

All formal and invigilated exams are held online, so there’s no need to attend campus or an exam centre. You can complete your exam from a suitable private space with the right setup.

You’ll only have an online invigilated exam if it’s needed to meet professional accreditation requirements for your course. UniSQ is currently trialing the ProctorU Live+ platform for online invigilated exams and will continue using it while the trial period is being reviewed.

Preparing for your formal examinations

  • Make sure you have a reliable device (laptop or computer) and a stable internet connection.
  • Have all the hardware you need ready (e.g. printer, scanner, calculator, translation dictionary).
  • Test your devices and equipment before your exam to avoid surprises.
  • If you're using a borrowed device, set up your own account to keep your work safe.
  • You can use UniSQ computer labs for non-invigilated exams and log in to your own account.

Invigilated exams

If your course has an invigilated exam, you must ensure that you have:

  • Web camera and microphone
  • Reliable internet connection
  • UniSQ Student ID Card

  • Check your lighting, seating, and room temperature before starting.
  • Choose a quiet, distraction-free space.
  • Silence your phone and turn off other devices to stay focused.

Invigilated exams

Invigilated exams must be completed in a private space with no other people around. Shared spaces and UniSQ labs cannot be used for invigilated exams.
