HDR Scholarships

UniSQ Research Stipend Scholarship


UniSQ offers the UniSQ Stipend Research Scholarship for both domestic and international students. These scholarships are paid as stipends that can assist with the cost of living. Applications from all areas of research are welcome. These are offered on a competitive basis during the major application round,  and on occasion via mid-year application rounds. 

Value    
• Stipend of AUD $35,000* per annum (*2024 stipend rate).
• Maximum tenure for the award is 3 years for the PhD and 2 years for the MRES. Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree will be deducted from the period of tenure.

Eligibility             
Applicants for scholarships will only be considered for scholarships once they have been deemed eligible for admission or have been admitted to an HDR Program. Domestic applicants who are commencing or continuing in an HDR Program are eligible to apply for stipend scholarships. International applicants who are commencing or continuing in an HDR Program are eligible to apply for either stipend scholarships or fees scholarship, or they may apply for both.

• Research project and environment; and
• Supervisory team.

UniSQ International Fees Research Scholarship


The UniSQ International Fees Research Scholarship supports international students with their tuition fees. Applications from all areas of research are welcome. These are offered on a competitive basis during the major application round,  and on occasion via mid-year application rounds. 

Value    
Tuition fees for a period of 3 years full-time equivalent study, paid by UniSQ. Periods of study already undertaken towards the degree will be deducted from the scholarship.

Eligibility             
To be eligible applicants must:
• be deemed eligible for admission or have been admitted to an HDR Program;
• be an international student, not an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident;
• not be in receipt of similar funding from the Australian Government;
• not be a sponsored student receiving similar funding from their Government, or other organisations;
• commence or continue study in 2024.

Applications for UniSQ funded scholarships are open from August to September. On occasions we offer a mid-year application round which typically opens in March – April. If you are awarded a scholarship, it will remain valid for 12 months from the date of awarding. You can usually expect an outcome on your scholarship application within six weeks of the closing date.
