UniSQ community members honoured in 2025 King’s Birthday Honours

The University of Southern Queensland proudly congratulates four esteemed members of its community who have been recognised in the 2025 King's Birthday Honours for their outstanding service and contributions to Australia. UniSQ extends its congratulations to the recipients and thanks them for their service and achievements.

Dr Clive Berghofer AO

Dr Clive Berghofer has been appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for his distinguished service to the Queensland community through philanthropic support across health, emergency services, sport, and education. He received a UniSQ Honorary Doctorate in 2020.

Joyce Skelton OAM

Ms Joyce Skelton has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for her service to music education. A former assessor with UniSQ’s distance education programs, Ms Skelton contributed significantly to the learning experiences of music students across the country.

Group Captain David Abraham CSC OAM

UniSQ alumnus Group Captain David Abraham has been awarded a Conspicuous Service Cross (CSC) and a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for his meritorious service in capability transition, disposal, and strategic infrastructure development for the Royal Australian Air Force. He holds a Master of Business Administration (Project Management) from UniSQ, awarded in 2004.

Chief Petty Officer Richard Culpan CSM

UniSQ alumnus Chief Petty Officer Richard Culpan has received a Conspicuous Service Medal (CSM) for his meritorious devotion to duty as Fleet Chief Petty Officer Electronics Technician Communications Specialist within the Sea Training Group – Major Fleet Units. Chief Petty Officer Culpan completed his Master of Business Administration (Project Management) with UniSQ in 2004.
