This year’s University of Southern Queensland’s Vinnies Community Sleepout raised more than $5,500 to support housing in Toowoomba for people experiencing homelessness.

Almost 100 people attended the event with 30 individuals sleeping out for the night, including University Ambassador Executive Director (Strategic Liaison Education Community) Mrs Helen Nolan.

“It was such an important opportunity to learn more about a critical issue impacting more than 500 people in Toowoomba on any given night,” Mrs Nolan said.

“I really commend those students and community members who participated in this important initiative.”

The sleepout event also raised awareness for homelessness with educational activities and guest speakers.
