Studying the Master of Information Systems is ideal for professionals with qualifications in areas other than information technology.

Professional accreditation

The Master of Information Systems program is accredited at professional level by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and, through the Seoul Accord, is recognised in other countries. The Seoul Accord is a multi-lateral agreement that allows ACS accreditation to be recognised globally. This means when you graduate, your degree will be recognised by other countries who are members of the Accord.

Career outcomes

  • Implement your knowledge and skills as an IT professional and begin your career in a range of fields including: business analyst, systems analyst, data architect, business process/data modeler, enterprise resource planning (ERP) analyst, computer trainer/support, computer programmer, help desk support, IT manager, IT sales and marketing specialist, change manager, business process engineer, IT project manager, consultant, business continuity (BCM) specialist, IT security specialist or service management.

Entry requirements

  • 3-year bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from a recognised university.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

To complete this degree students must complete 16 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per semester.
