Graduating is always a momentous occasion, and this was no exception for students living at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) student accommodation.

After years of assignments and exams, 35 graduating students celebrated their achievements surrounded by family and friends at the UniSQ Residential Colleges Valedictory Dinner on Friday night.

Concannon College Valedictorian Chad Johnston said he was excited to mark the milestone after living on campus for three years.

“College has been my home and family throughout my studies, where I’ve met some amazing people and always had something to do,” Mr Johnston said.

The paramedicine student embraced life at the University through organising events and leadership roles including being a Senior Resident Advisor (SRA), Sports Coordinator and member of the Leadership Excellence Academy.

“It’s been great to give back to colleges, with one of my favourite memory’s organising the Davis Cup Car Rally.”

“The event includes a trivia night, dinner and the chance for students to dress up themselves and their cars while completing a widespread treasure hunt throughout the region,” Mr Johnston said.

UniSQ Dean (Students) Professor Jim Nyland delivered the keynote address to the graduating residents.

“We love nothing more than to see our students grow and succeed, and it was wonderful to recognise this new group of graduands through this prestigious dinner,” Professor Nyland said.
