UniSQ Homestay

UniSQ manages a cohort of homestay families based within the Toowoomba and Springfield regions who welcome short term Study Tour students into their home, facilitating a rich immersion into Australian lifestyle and culture. All UniSQ Homestay families are carefully selected and meticulously screened for suitability as well as holding a valid Queensland Blue Card.

UniSQ Homestay programs are run at both the Toowoomba and Springfield campuses. We are always looking to expand our network of high-quality hosts! We encourage Springfield based homestay hosts to view further information here as the following page is specific to Toowoomba based hosts only.

Embark on a rewarding journey as a Homestay Host and introduce international students to your vibrant community, letting their rich cultural experiences broaden your horizons. As a host, you will support students' English language capabilities, create lifelong connections and play a pivotal role in making their study abroad experience memorable.

Study Tours range in duration from 2-6 weeks sporadically throughout the year, so there is flexibility for our hosts. Competitive remuneration rates and our personable approach to homestay, set us apart from other providers.

* Remuneration may differ should a host not be able to provide daily transport.

When hosting students, it is a requirement that they will be provided with the following:

  • Own private bedroom.
  • Three nutritious meals a day. 
  • Daily transport to and from the University. 
  • Clean and tidy household with access to shared living areas.
  • Reasonable internet, gas, electricity, heating, and water.
  • A safe, secure bedroom for your student’s sole use, with a bed and suitable storage space for clothes, personal effects, and study materials.
  • Study facilities including a desk or table, chair, and adequate lighting.
  • Kitchen, bathroom, and laundry facilities.
  • Household items such as towels, sheets, blankets, eating and cooking utensils.

We have high expectations of our international students, to ensure that they are an asset to your home. Before they arrive, they are told the following:

  • To always conduct themselves with respect and kindness in their homestay.
  • To be mindful of Australian water restrictions and keep showers to a minimum. 
  • To assist with housework and contribute to the household. 
  • To always ask their host family before making any arrangements.
  • To try new experiences while they are in Australia!
  1. Read through the UniSQ Homestay Information Pack.
  2. Complete the Application Form and Homestay Agreement, found on the final pages of the Information Pack.
  3. Email the completed pack to GEP@unisq.edu.au
  4. GEP Team will reach out to arrange a home visit and confirm the suitability of your home.
  5. Finalise your documentation, during your home visit, to set you up as a homestay supplier. 
  6. Become part of the UniSQ Homestay network.
