Opening doors to leadership roles

During her time studying Bachelor of Business and Commerce and Bachelor of Laws at UniSQ, Erin McDonald had the opportunity to fulfil many leadership roles. Not only was this great experience for her resume, Erin valued the chance to help her peers and the community. As President of the USQ Law Society, she helped grow the society, enabling students to connect with the local law profession.

‘When I first started my double degree at university I had no connections in law and I didn’t know how to secure a job. Through my work in the USQ Law Society I was able to help other students understand their career prospects and build their professional networks.’

On the day of her last exam she attended an interview and was offered a position straight away. She now works full-time as a Conveyancing Paralegal at a local law firm in Toowoomba.

‘I believe a large part of my success has been a result of being involved in the UniSQ community, both professionally and as a student. UniSQ has provided me with many great opportunities. The support and closeness of the law school has helped me succeed through every stage of my degree.’

‘I have learned that I am capable of more things than I ever imagined, it just took the courage to give them a go. My goals for the future are to be admitted as a solicitor and work in commercial law, particularly contract, property and construction law. ’
