Overview

  • Curious about what robotic arms, self-driving cars, smartphones, robotic vacuum cleaners, drones and space exploration have in common? They all represent innovative solutions powered by the principles of mechatronic and robotic engineering. Be ready to innovate and influence the trajectory of technology for the future at UniSQ – the only institution in Queensland offering mechatronics and robotics courses as part of an Associate Degree in Engineering.
  • Study topics including mechanical, electronic and computer engineering principles. Guided by our renowned academics, you’ll delve into the fundamental principles of motion, and the foundations of building mechatronic systems.
  • Explore electronic components, circuit analysis and design, signals, filters, schematics, simulation tools and legislative frameworks. Gain an introduction to engineering statistics and stress analysis, as well as the creation of technical documents.
  • Learn from experienced industry professionals, committed to inspiring you in your learning.
  • Understand how this field of engineering can improve efficiencies in industries, optimise processes, increase safety, deploy precise and accurate tasks and drive innovation by pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Career outcomes

As a graduate, you’ll be able to apply for a range of positions that contribute to and support mechatronic and robotic engineering across a range of industries.

Potential career paths include:

  • government department roles
  • positions in private engineering firms
  • technical positions in engineering, robotics, automation or electronics
  • technical support, manufacturing, control systems or field service roles.

Professional accreditation

When you graduate with your associate degree, you’ll be eligible to apply for provisional accreditation with Engineers Australia. Apply for membership after you graduate to become an Engineering Associate and with the experience you will gain from working in the field, you can apply for chartered status as an Engineering Associate.
