Regional Leaders Scholarship

In 2027, UniSQ will offer one Regional Leaders Scholarship to support a domestic student commencing their studies in a bachelor’s degree program.

Supported by the annual returns of an endowment fund built up by donors to the University since the early 2000s, this special scholarship aims for the highest levels of support for promising regional leaders.

Value
The scholarship will have a maximum value of $30,000 to be paid over three years as a contribution to UniSQ Student Accommodation fees.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • be from a regional, rural or remote area of Australia
  • have completed Year 12 in 2025 or 2026
  • be a new student
  • be intending to enrol full-time at UniSQ in a bachelor’s degree program in Trimester 1 2027
  • be intending to reside at UniSQ Student Accommodation, Toowoomba campus
  • be intending to enrol in on-campus mode (unless the program or study units are not offered on campus).

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • universities provide a pathway to transform passion into a meaningful career. What experiences, influences, or defining moments have shaped your passions, and how have they directed your choice of study and future aspirations?
    • modern careers create opportunities to make a lasting positive impact on communities and society. What are your long-term career goals within your chosen field, and how do you envision using your profession to contribute to meaningful societal change?
    • personal growth often comes through challenges, service to others, and opportunities to take initiative. Describe a situation in which you demonstrated resilience, leadership, integrity, or a willingness to contribute to others. What did you learn from the experience, and how has it shaped the person you are today?
    • what influenced your decision to live at the UniSQ Student Accommodation, and how have your previous leadership experiences shaped the contribution you hope to make to the college community and your future leadership aspirations?
  • provide evidence of a permanent residential address in, or have relocated to study from, a regional, rural or remote area (MM2 - MM7) within Australia, as classified under the Modified Monash Model 2023
  • provide evidence of academic achievement as directed in the application process:
    • final year school report card or post-secondary academic history (transcript of results).
  • provide evidence of prior leadership roles within their school or local community.

Please note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together (e.g., applicants cannot hold this scholarship together with the UniSQ Student Accommodation Scholarship or an Academic Excellence Scholarship).
