Kevin Charlesworth Scholarship

In 2027, UniSQ will offer one Kevin Charlesworth Scholarship to support a domestic student commencing their studies in an undergraduate degree program.

Kevin Charlesworth understands the financial challenges students face while trying to complete their University degree, having experienced these challenges himself. The desire to help others and improve access to higher education inspired Mr Charlesworth to establish the Kevin Charlesworth Endowment Fund. Through Kevin’s generous giving we are able to offer these scholarships to help graduates from selected schools that are close to the donor’s heart with their studies in any undergraduate degree at UniSQ.

Value
The scholarship will have a maximum value of $12,000 to be paid over three years.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • have completed Year 12 at Clifton State High School, Pittsworth State High School, or Toowoomba Flexi School; or Year 10 at Millmerran State School, or Allora State School
  • be a commencing student
  • be intending to enrol full-time at UniSQ in an undergraduate degree program in Trimester 1 2027.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • universities provide a pathway to transform passion into a meaningful career. What experiences, influences, or defining moments have shaped your passions, and how have they directed your choice of study and future aspirations?
    • modern careers create opportunities to make a lasting positive impact on communities and society. What are your long-term career goals within your chosen field, and how do you envision using your profession to contribute to meaningful societal change?
    • personal growth often comes through challenges, service to others, and opportunities to take initiative. Describe a situation in which you demonstrated resilience, leadership, integrity, or a willingness to contribute to others. What did you learn from the experience, and how has it shaped the person you are today?
    • what are the positive experiences and/or the challenges you overcame, living and attending school in a regional community
  • provide evidence that they meet the school attendance eligibility criteria (e.g., relevant school report card)
  • provide evidence of their current financial circumstances 
    • financial need is not a requirement; however, preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate financial need.

Please note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
