Heritage Bank Peter Cleary Memorial Scholarship

In 2026, UniSQ will offer three Heritage Bank Peter Cleary Memorial Scholarships to support students continuing their studies in the Bachelor of Business, or Bachelor of Accounting (including double degree programs).

Established by an endowed gift from Heritage Bank in 2020 and first awarded in 2021, the scholarship will support business students from regional, rural or remote Queensland, or the Ipswich City LGA through their second year of study at UniSQ.

Each scholarship will have a maximum value of $4000 to be paid in one instalment.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • be from a regional, rural or remote area within Queensland, or the Ipswich City Council Local Government Area
  • be continuing their studies full-time at UniSQ in the Bachelor of Business, or Bachelor of Accounting (including double degree programs) in Trimester 1 2026
  • have, as at the release of results for Trimester 3 2025: 
    • a minimum of 6 and maximum of 13 study units completed and credited towards their current program
    • a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.0.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • how have your academic experiences shaped your approach to learning, and how will you apply this to your remaining studies? Examples are encouraged.
    • describe your career goals within your chosen field, and the impact that you hope to make as a professional
    • how has your development as an individual been influenced by your community involvement (e.g., community service at school or volunteer role in sporting/cultural group, leadership roles or through other extracurricular activities)
  • provide evidence to show you have a permanent residential address in, or have relocated to study from:
  • provide evidence to support claims made within your personal statement regarding community involvement (e.g., community or school newsletter articles, certificates).

*Applicants will also be assessed on their academic achievement.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
