Degree structure

An undergraduate university degree typically consists of a combination of core, major and elective courses designed to provide you with foundational knowledge and opportunities for an in-depth deeper dive into your chosen field.

Refer to the UniSQ Handbook for detailed recommended enrolment patterns and course availability.

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previous studies or relevant work experience. This could reduce the number of courses you need to study to complete your degree.

Degree requirements

You will also need to complete 90 days of professional experience to gain valuable practice in prior to school settings and classrooms working with babies, toddlers, infants and young children.

All students within this degree must be able to meet the professional requirements expected of teachers and early childhood professionals.

All students must provide evidence of an attempt at the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE) by the end of their first year, which is measured by 8 courses/units of study. For First Nations language speakers, recognition of First Nations language proficiency by a relevant cultural authority is an acceptable alternative standard. Additionally, students are made aware of this requirement through block announcements on designated first year StudyDesks, Orientation programs and student notifications when Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) test windows become available.
