Studying secondary teaching at UniSQ will prepare you to teach high school students in various contexts. Choose two subject areas to specialise in from 20 different teaching areas. Specialising in two subject areas will help to diversify your skillset and make you a more desirable candidate as a secondary educator.

Graduating with a secondary education degree means you’ll be able to register as a secondary school teacher through the Queensland College of Teachers. To be eligible for registration in Queensland, domestic and international students must have at least 51% of supervised professional experience in Australian schools.

Studying secondary teaching offers flexibility and opportunity in a range of teaching areas. University graduates with a degree in secondary education can gain employment in state and private schools, hospital schools, international schools, flexi-school delivery and traditional classrooms. Teaching skills are highly transferable and can be applied in various industries, from human services to community-based government organisations, or recreation and tourism.
