Turn to Teaching Internship Program

If you have a bachelor’s degree and are looking for a career change, this is your opportunity to become a primary or secondary teacher.

We are excited to announce the Department of Education will again partner with the University of Southern Queensland to deliver the Turn to Teaching program in 2026.

Who can apply for Turn to Teaching?

This program is for degree-qualified early or mid-career professionals who want to become a teacher. Therefore, any university students in their final year of a non-teaching degree may be interested, or any prospective ITE students who have previously completed a non-teaching degree. Plus any relevant networks.

What does the Turn to Teaching program involve?

This two-year supported pathway helps you enter the classroom in just 12 months, with a $20,000 scholarship and a paid internship teaching position while studying, plus a guaranteed permanent teaching position on program completion.
