Studying at UniSQ
Frequently asked questions
Most undergraduate business degrees in Australia take three years of full-time study to complete, including our Bachelor of Business. However, if you're eager to accelerate your learning, you have the option to fast-track your Bachelor of Business and finish in just two years by studying full-time across six consecutive trimesters.
For postgraduate study, most qualifications will take approximately one year of full-time study, however this can vary, depending on the qualification you choose.
While both degrees cover core areas like finance, accounting, and management, a Bachelor of Business at UniSQ offers a broader, more practical approach, focusing on real-world applications and industry engagement. In contrast, a commerce degree typically focuses on theoretical and quantitative aspects of economics and finance.
Graduates of UniSQ’s business degrees are well-equipped to pursue a wide range of career paths across the public and private sectors. Your chosen degree and major will guide your direction.
For example, if you choose to study a marketing major you could explore career options in digital marketing, branding or as an advertising specialist. Those who major in finance often pursue a career as a financial manager/analyst, investment banker or risk manager. Human resource management graduates are well-placed for roles such as HR manager, talent acquisition consultant or organisational development advisor.
Throughout your studies, you’ll benefit from UniSQ’s strong industry connections, hands-on learning opportunities and career-focused support, all designed to help you graduate with the skills and confidence to make an immediate impact in your chosen field.
For entry into UniSQ’s business courses, it's assumed that applicants have a sound knowledge of English (Units 3 & 4, C) and general mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C). While prior studies in commerce can be beneficial, it's not a mandatory requirement.
If you don’t meet the entry requirements for your chosen degree, UniSQ offers various pathway programs to help you gain entry into your dream degree.
Studying business at UniSQ provides you with a comprehensive education that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, preparing you for a wide range of careers and leadership roles. University degrees often delve deeper into strategic thinking, critical analysis, and research skills.
In contrast, TAFE courses are typically more vocational, focusing on specific skills for particular jobs. A university degree offers broader opportunities for career advancement and specialisation.
