Exchange program
Exchange program (one trimester or full year)
- Study at a partner university overseas.
- Full-time credit (3 - 4 courses).

Study exchange costs
As a UniSQ student participating in Study Abroad or a Semester-long Exchange Program you will be required to pay for your:
- tuition fees or student contribution to UniSQ (exchange), or tuition fees to the host university (Study Abroad)
- accommodation fees to the host university or accommodation provider
- Overseas Student Health Cover
- visa application fees
- travel insurance
- flights and transport
- personal spending money and other associated living costs.
While you're overseas
Students and staff participating in an overseas placement or study program are required to follow all UniSQ and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) policies and procedures while overseas. Check information about the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Abuse and Harassment (PSEAH) and Child Protection.
Returning to UniSQ
When you have completed your overseas study program, your host university usually provides the UniSQ Global Education Program Team with an academic transcript. Please use this transcript to claim your credit for your successful studies.

Eligibility criteria
To apply for an exchange program, you must:
- Have completed at least one year of full-time study (at least 8 courses).
- Have at least one course left to complete after returning to UniSQ.
- Maintain a GPA of 4.0 or higher - note: some universities may require a higher GPA for admission into their program).
- Must be approved to receive full-time academic credit each study period while overseas (i.e. three or four credits).
When to go on exchange
- The best time to go is in your second year of study.
- It's possible to go in your third year (must not be your final study period).
- Check program dates carefully as some may overlap with UniSQ assessment periods.
Funding depends on eligibility and availability:
- New Colombo Plan Grants (up to AUD 7000)
- OS-HELP Loans (up to AUD 9504)
- UniSQ International Study Abroad Grant.

Important information
Make sure to check the dates for each program carefully. Some programs are named 'Summer' or 'Winter'. If the host university is in the Northern Hemisphere, these will be the opposite of the Australian Summer or Winter.
These programs may also overlap with the UniSQ semester dates or exam blocks. UniSQ exams cannot be moved to accommodate an overseas program.

Application deadlines for each program may vary each year. Make sure to check the deadlines for individual programs to allow yourself enough time to apply.
