Game on: UniSQ students making their mark in sport

Several people wearing athletic uniforms play a sport outdoors on a grassy field, with trees and a blue sky in the background.
UniSQ students have performed well on and off the field this year.

From international decathlon success to cricket, distance running, netball and touch football, University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) students have been making their mark across the sporting arena.

Leading the recent achievements, UniSQ Elite Athlete Camryn Newton-Smith won the 2026 Women’s Decathlon World Championships in the US, scoring 7,900 points.

Closer to home, a composite UniSQ/UniSC women’s T20 cricket team completed an undefeated tournament, while students have represented UniSQ across a range of competitions and sporting events.
