Project management focuses on delivering individual projects on time, within scope and on budget. Organisational project management takes a broader view, connecting multiple projects and programs to overall business strategy.
It involves managing project portfolios, aligning resources, and ensuring that all initiatives contribute to organisational priorities, making it more strategic and leadership focused than traditional project management.
While project managers often concentrate on the success of a single initiative, organisational project management is concerned with how projects perform collectively and how they contribute to long term business value. This makes it especially relevant for professionals moving into senior project, program or portfolio leadership roles.
