As a graduate with this double degree, you could find work in a wide range of industries depending on your area of interest. This includes roles in scientific practice combined with business management within the government, regulatory, health, IT and research sectors. 

With this qualification, you will be optimally placed for a wide range of careers in business and science and you can apply for jobs as a: 

  • business professional within your selected major (e.g. HR advisor, IT project manager, marketing specialist) 
  • research scientist (government, private or university)

Professional accreditation

The finance major in the Bachelor of Business will meet the educational entrance requirements to become a member of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA)

UniSQ is accredited for the Human Resource Management major by the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI). This major will satisfy the educational requirements for professional membership of AHRI. 

The Bachelor of Science (Information Technology) major is accredited at professional level by the Australian Computer Society and, through the Seoul Accord, is recognised in other countries.

General electives are courses chosen from other Level 1, 2 or 3 courses in the University. Students must not take more than ten Level 1 courses in the program overall. Students without or with limited background in Mathematical Methods are recommended to take MAT1101 Discrete Mathematics for Computing as an elective in the following majors: Animal Science, Biology, Environment and Sustainability, Food Science, Human Physiology, Plant Agricultural Science and Wine Science Majors. CSC1401 Foundation Programming and MAT1101 Discrete Mathematics for Computing are recommended electives for the following majors: Mathematics and Statistics, Computing, and Geospatial Science Major. CSC1401 Foundation Programming, MAT1102 Algebra and Calculus I and MAT2100 Algebra and Calculus II (These courses are co-requisites for required courses PHY1104 Physics 1 and PHY1911 Physics 2) are recommended electives for the following majors: Astronomical and Space Sciences and Physics Major. For students considering post-graduate study in physics or astronomy, the following courses are highly recommended: CSC1401 Foundation Programming, MAT2409 High Performance Numerical Computing, SCI3301 Science Project, MAT3103 Mathematical Modelling and Dynamical Systems, MAT3105 Harmony of Partial Differential Equations. Unsuitable Electives For various reasons, the following course will not be approved as an elective for students majoring in Computing in the Bachelor of Science program: CIS2000 Systems Analysis and Design. Students will require the approval of the Faculty of Health, Engineering and Sciences if they wish to include MAT1000 Mathematics Fundamentals, MAT1100 Foundation Mathematics, ENM1500 Introductory Engineering Mathematics, and MAC2901 Mathematics for Teachers as electives towards the Bachelor of Science program majoring in Mathematics and Statistics.

Entry requirements

You need to satisfy the following requirements to be considered for entry into this degree.

Use our International qualification converter to check country-specific grades (that are equivalent to Australian Year 12) you will need to apply for this degree.

To study this degree, we assume you have sound knowledge in:

  • English (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent and
  • General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent

We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

You'll need to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires:

  • IELTS (Academic) - Minimum overall score of 6.0 and a minimum score of 5.5 in each of the four components - listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

Alternative English language proficiency tests may also be accepted.

The duration of a double degree in science and business will vary depending on which university you choose to study with. At UniSQ, this double degree will take about four years to complete. We know it can be a lot to juggle your degree with other commitments, so we offer many courses on a part-time basis. If you choose to study part-time, this will extend the time it takes to complete all the required courses. 

The entry requirements to study a Bachelor of Science and Business double degree (or equivalent) will vary depending on the education provider you choose.

To study a double degree in science and business at UniSQ a minimum ATAR, subject pre-requisites and assumed knowledge all need to be met before enrolling. Assumed knowledge refers to required level of knowledge needed in certain subject areas (for example maths or English).
