Right to Information access

The Right to Information Act (RTI) and the Information Privacy Act (IP) give a right of access to information held by the university. To enable access to, or amend your own personal information held by UniSQ an application must be made under the Information Privacy Act.

Please note, applications requesting a mixture of personal and non-personal information or requesting another person's personal information will be dealt with under Right to Information.

Request for access

A single application form is available for access applications under both the RTI Act and the IP Act. To request access:

  1. Fill in an application form to access documents under RTI or Privacy. Please provide as much information as you can as this will enable us to identify the documents of interest to you.
  2. State whether you wish to: obtain a copy, inspect the document, obtain a transcript or listen to/watch a tape recording.
  3. Send your application to the Right to Information Coordinator and Decision-maker via:

Processing timeframe

From the day the valid application and application fee is received your application will be processed within:

  • 25 business days; or
  • 35 business days if consultation with a third party is required.

The Right to Information Coordinator and Decision-maker will acknowledge receipt of your application within 10 business days.

Fees and charges

Under the RTI Act, an application fee of $52.60 is payable for requests of documents deemed to be non-personal affairs. There are no charges for applications to access or amend a person's own personal information.

An applicant has the right of review internal/external. Applications for internal reviews should be forwarded to:

Disclosure log

An agency's (UniSQ's) disclosure-log provides access to released documents (non-personal information) that have been assessed through the Right to Information formal process. The purpose of a disclosure log is to make individual releases of information under the RTI Act available to the widest possible audience. 'Personal affairs' information, including an individual's name (the applicant), will not be published.
