Dr Jessa Rogers’ heart for the community and influential nature has paved the way for bettering Indigenous education. Jessa graduated from UniSQ in 2014 with a Master of Education and was named the 2018 UniSQ Young Alumnus of the Year.

'I really appreciated the support that Indigenous students get at UniSQ and the focus that they have on Indigenous education as well as the flexibility and study arrangements. I never could have finished my Masters without the support of UniSQ and the flexibility it offered.'

After completing her Masters Jessa was accepted into Cambridge University to study her PhD, but chose to stay in Australia to be closer to her community and family.

Since then Jessa has held teaching positions and academic positions, including her current position as the Project Director for Indigenous Research and Education Strategy at the University of New England.

Jessa’s contribution to many academic publications, articles, reports and conference papers has not gone unnoticed and she has won numerous awards, including a Fulbright scholarship which saw her based at Harvard University.
