Take your credit from your studies in the Bachelor of Surveying Technology and go on to complete the Bachelor of Surveying (Honours).

Professional accreditation

This degree is fully accredited by the Surveyors Board of Queensland and is recognised in every Australian state and in New Zealand through reciprocal arrangements. The degree, together with relevant industry experience, enables registration as a Surveying Associate with the Boards of Surveyors in Australia and New Zealand.

When you graduate, you will be eligible to apply for membership with the Geospatial Council of Australia.

Career outcomes

  • Work as a surveying technologist, mine surveyor, and supervising engineering surveyor and, with a bit of experience under your belt, as a manager of survey operations in the Commonwealth, state and local government, private surveying consultancies, and with a plethora of large construction organisations.

Entry requirements

  • Subject pre-requisite: General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4,C), or equivalent. 
  • Assumed knowledge: English (Units 3 & 4, C) and Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C) or equivalent.
  • Recommended prior study: Physics (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent.

English language requirements

You are required to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subscore. UniSQ also accepts other English language proficiency tests.

If you don't meet the English language requirements, you can apply to study UniSQ's UniReady courses TPP0122 and TPP0123, or the English for Academic Purposes EAP2 pathway program through the Union Institute of Language (UIL).

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

If you have previously studied in your home country, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses that you need to study to finish your program.

Practical experience

As part of this degree, you will need to complete practical experience, where interactive hands-on activities, such as experiments and use of specialist equipment, are undertaken.

All students must be able to meet the physical and other professional requirements of practical experience within this degree.

Residential schools

This degree has a mandatory attendance requirement for some of the residential school courses. All students will have the opportunity to come on-campus for residential schools, where you will attend face-to-face lectures and tutorials to gain practical experience, use facilities and specialist equipment, and meet staff and other students.
