Free pathway diploma courses

How it works

We offer free foundational courses in each pathway diploma, helping reduce your overall study costs and supporting your transition to university study.

To keep these foundational courses free, they are offered through the Foundation Studies for Pathway Diplomas (FSPD) enabling program. Once you've applied for your diploma and your offer is accepted, you will be active in two programs:

  • your diploma program, and
  • the Foundation Studies for Pathways Diplomas (FSPD) enabling program.

How you progress and gain credit

You will initially complete 2 to 4 foundational courses in the FSPD, before moving on to your first-year courses in your preferred diploma. These free foundational courses not only help you reduce the overall study costs of your degree, they also develop your study skills and confidence you need to succeed at university.

Upon successful completion of courses with a URY* code in the FSPD, you will be awarded credit for the corresponding courses in your diploma program.

You will not be charged tuition fees or incur HECS-HELP Loan for courses you enrol in that begin with URY.

*The URY course codes are used from 2027 onwards. Students who started their Pathway Diploma in 2026 complete courses with a TPP course code instead. Please view the UniSQ Handbook if you enrolled in a Pathway Diploma before 2027 to see the TPP-course code information relevant to you.

Application and enrolment information

To receive the URY-coded foundational courses for free, you complete a FEE-FREE Uni Ready Commonwealth Assistance Form when you enrol in your Foundation Studies for Pathway Diplomas (FSPD) program.

After you complete your URY* courses, you become eligible to enrol in your Pathway Diploma and study your first-year courses. At that point you complete a new Commonwealth Assistance Form (CAF) for your diploma program

Find more information about the forms on the Study Assist website or contact UniSQ if you have questions about the application or enrolment process.
