- Designed to build upon legal knowledge gained at the Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Juris Doctor levels, the Master of Laws gives you the opportunity to write a law research project on a topic of your choice, under the guidance of an expert supervisor.
- Benefit from a suite of innovative and topical legal specialist postgraduate courses. Choose from five specialisations that reflect areas of in-need legal practice: Commercial Law, Family Law, International Law, Legal Practice or Public Law.
- Complete two core courses focused on research skills, four electives from your chosen specialisation, as well as one additional elective from an area of interest such as advanced taxation law, international humanitarian law, or advanced criminology, to name a few.
- Complete your degree in one year when studying full-time or two years part-time. Choose from three different start times throughout the year and take advantage of options to fast-track your study.

Entry requirements
There are many ways to be considered for entry into a UniSQ degree based on your education, work experience and relevant personal attributes. You need to satisfy the following requirements to be considered for entry into this postgraduate degree.
- Completion of a Bachelor of Laws (Honours); a Juris Doctor; a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, or an international equivalent.
- Applicants who do not hold a law degree but have an equivalent qualification approved by a legal profession admissions board are also eligible to apply for entry.
- If you have completed the UniSQ Juris Doctor you will receive 50% specific credit towards particular components of the Master of Laws. If you have completed a Juris Doctor degree from another institute, you are able to apply for credit as per the Credit and Exemption policy.
You'll need to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires:
- IELTS (Academic) - Minimum overall score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6.0 in each of the four components - listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
Alternative English language proficiency tests may also be accepted.

It is important to apply early to allow enough time for your application to be assessed and processed to meet study commencement dates and participation in Orientation activities. You should also factor in visa processing requirements and timeframes, where applicable.
After you’ve submitted your application, you will be emailed a reference number. Please allow up to 14 days for assessment. If further assessment is required for course credits or exemptions, this process may take longer.
