Their expertise spans a diverse range of law backgrounds, including criminal law, human rights, international and comparative law, ethics, family and succession law, environmental and natural resources law, commercial and taxation law, and public law and policy.

- Already completed your Practical Legal Training (PLT) program (at another institution)? We will give you credit from that PLT program to halve your honours degree (namely the honours electives half). You will complete an honours degree in law in one additional year (or part-time equivalent), including your Practical Legal Training – a great thing to have on your CV.

Professional accreditation
The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) articulates from the Bachelor of Laws. The Bachelor of Laws is accredited by the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board, Queensland, and the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Queensland as an approved academic qualification under the Supreme Court (Legal Practitioner Admission) Rules 2004 (Qld).
The Bachelor of Laws will partially satisfy the requirements to practise as a lawyer in Queensland or elsewhere in Australia. Intending lawyers must also complete an approved practical legal training course in order to become admitted to practise law. There is an option in the Honours year of gaining a credit for four units of law approved courses by the completion of an approved practical legal training program.

To graduate from the Bachelor of Laws (Honours), you must successfully complete 8 units of study.
Degree structure
An undergraduate university degree typically consists of a combination of core, major and elective courses designed to provide you with foundational knowledge and opportunities for an in-depth deeper dive into your chosen field.

You may be eligible for recognition of prior learning if you have previous studies. This could reduce the number of courses you need to study to complete your degree.
Entry requirements
You need to satisfy the following requirements to be considered for entry into this honours degree.
Completion of UniSQ's Bachelor of Laws or other recognised bachelor's degree in law from a recognised university with a pass at either:
- a credit level (grade point average of 5.0/7, that is 71.4 per cent) in the entire program and permission of the relevant Program Coordinator
- a grade point average of 5.2/7 (75 per cent) in the third level of the Bachelor of Laws program, including an 'A' or better level pass in at least one course.
For an applicant with equivalent qualifications, special permission is required of the Head of School and Dean on the advice of the relevant Program Coordinator.
You'll need to meet the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires:
- IELTS (Academic) - Minimum overall score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6.0 in each of the four components - listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
Alternative English language proficiency tests may also be accepted.
