Nathan

Flying high with new career path

Bachelor of Aviation student Nathan Warriner had been a police officer for 17 years before realising it was time for a change.

UniSQ’s affiliation with the Qantas Future Pilot Program allowed Nathan to talk with mentors who are currently working in the industry. At the end of his degree Nathan will receive his commercial pilot licence and will be able to fly commercially as a career.

‘I used to fly recreationally, and I love it. Once you get up there you never really forget. By studying Aviation I am realising a dream and accomplishing something I’ve always wanted to do. They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. It’s been challenging to learn a whole new career but it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.’

Nathan is currently completing the practical component of his degree, flying solo to stunning locations around Australia.
