Livia

Flying towards a sustainable future
Livia is holding a white drone, in the Quad at UniSQ Toowoomba, smiling at the camera.

Originally from Brazil, Lívia completed an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Engineering in her home country before moving to Australia to study a Master of Engineering Science (Agricultural Engineering) at UniSQ.

Lívia first studied in Australia during her bachelor’s degree, where she studied English and additional courses in agricultural engineering. In Brazil, Lívia participated in research projects, tutored for GIS/Remote Sensing and completed a four-month internship at EMBRAPA Agricultural IT – The Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation.

With a passion for creating a sustainable future through agricultural efficiency, Lívia began postgraduate studies at UniSQ while working at the Centre for Agricultural Engineering. During this work, Lívia engaged with farmers, students and the local community and was involved in a research project utilising drones for site-specific weed management.

Now working for Sugar Research Australia, Lívia hopes to continue learning and expanding her rewarding career in agricultural engineering. However, without perseverance and hard work, she wouldn’t be where she is today.

'My biggest motivator is the concept of constantly improving agricultural efficiency and sustainability to help our Australian farmers as well as farmers globally.'

UniSQ is rated 5/5 stars for engineering and technology undergraduates in full-time employment.*
