Dulantha

From Multinational Finance to Data Science mastery
Dulantha’s interest in postgraduate study stemmed from her experience in finance within multinational manufacturing organisations. With 14 years of experience, including 10 in key management roles, she recognised the limitations of using Excel for investment and operational decision analyses, including reducing defects and wastage related to the manufacturing process.

After completing a Master of Business at the University of Southern Queensland, Dulantha returned to UniSQ to expand her skills and career prospects in data science.

“A Master of Data Science helped me gain a more profound knowledge of higher-level analytical and prediction tools, so that I can engage with businesses more effectively. The practical assignments and the opportunity to work on real-world projects were invaluable. Another highlight was the commitment of UniSQ lecturers to student development,” said Dulantha.

Dulantha now works as a Product and Management Accountant at a well-established pest-controlling business, using the analytical tools learned during her Master of Data Science at UniSQ to improve internal controls, formulate business strategies, and evaluate investment decisions.

“UniSQ consistently aligns its programs with technological advancements and real-world industrial projects, fostering innovative and critical thinking in postgraduates. It was one of the most powerful destinations in my life, and it has shaped my career to fit my desires.”
