When Caleb accidently attended a media subject in high school, little did he know he was about to stumbled onto his future career – working in film.

After school Caleb worked for a few years before going to university. He did his research and found UniSQ to be where he wanted to study.

“UniSQ came recommended from a producer I’d been lucky enough to work with. He managed to set up a tour for me and I got to see a place that I felt comfortable in, a place that seemed like it was designed to help students experience as much as possible,” he said.

Now a Bachelor of Film and Screen Production student, Caleb has enjoyed learning from industry-experienced lecturers.

“They’re able to apply their own professional expertise, hobbies, and problem-solving skills to their course work, which makes for very personalised and in-depth course content.

“The lecturers have their own industry connections which I’ve benefited from greatly,” he said.

Caleb has thrown himself into university life, including becoming a UniSQ student ambassador, and is enjoying the opportunities these interactions bring.

“The student ambassador program has really demonstrated this for me – as an ambassador for UniSQ I get to talk to students and staff from schools and universities all across the country.

As a proud UniSQ student, Caleb confidently supports the University and has no hesitation in recommending it to others.

“UniSQ is a community that actually cares about its students, and embraces equal learning opportunity,” he said.

Looking ahead, Caleb has big dreams but is an advocate for doing things one step at a time.

“I’d like to work full-time for a local production company. If I had the opportunity to work for a bigger, international production company I’d definitely jump at the chance, but I also believe part of learning anything is to do it bit-by-bit.”
