UniSQ alumni recognised in 2026 Australia Day Honours

University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) alumni have been recognised in the 2026 Australia Day Honours for their significant contributions across health, community service, sport, the built environment, defence, and industry.

The honours acknowledge graduates whose work has delivered lasting impact locally, nationally, and internationally, reflecting UniSQ’s strong tradition of service, leadership, and community engagement.

Those recognised include:

  • Floyd Leedie AM – Appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to Indigenous health in Queensland.
  • Terence Doherty AM – Appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to basketball, particularly through administrative leadership and referee education roles.
  • Dr Paul Kremer AM – Appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the built environment, recognising his influence across industry, research and professional practice.
  • Margaret Staib AM (Mil) – Appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the Military Division for significant service to business, the aviation sector, and the freight and logistics industry, alongside a distinguished career in the Australian Defence Force.
  • Rosamund Heit OAM – Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community through a range of organisations, including leadership roles in regional local government.
  • Philip Armstrong OAM – Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community through a range of organisations, including longstanding volunteer leadership.
  • Selliah Nalliah OAM – Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the Tamil and Hindu communities of Victoria through sustained cultural, spiritual and community leadership.

The recognition highlights the breadth of impact UniSQ graduates continue to make across Australia.
