Vice-Chancellor Professor Geraldine Mackenzie said the result was a testament to the quality and impact of the University.

The University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) ranked 15th in Australia and top 10 in multiple categories in the inaugural Best Universities Ranking compiled by The Australian Financial Review (AFR).

The result saw UniSQ ranked second in greater Brisbane, behind only the University of Queensland and ahead of Griffith University and QUT.

The AFR ranking is the first in Australia to recognise traditional notions of excellence, such as research and reputation, alongside student satisfaction, career outcomes and equity measures.

The AFR ranking uses publicly available data and includes 40 universities in Australia.

The ranking evaluates performance under five pillars: student satisfaction, research performance, global reputation, career impact, and equity and access.

UniSQ placed seventh nationally in the career outcomes and equity measures.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Geraldine Mackenzie said the result was a testament to the quality and impact of the University of Southern Queensland’s performance across all measures.

“This ranking reflects our commitment to providing an outstanding student experience, delivering world-class research, and engaging with our communities and industry partners.” Professor Mackenzie said.

“We are proud to provide access and opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds, including regional and remote areas. We believe everyone deserves a chance to pursue their educational aspirations and achieve their potential.”

The University of Southern Queensland continues to perform strongly globally, recently named in the 351-400 band in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings of all universities worldwide and number 55 in the world in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings.
