UniSQ is progressing plans for a new student accommodation precinct at its Toowoomba campus to support future accommodation needs and enhance the student experience. The approved and funded first stage will deliver the first of six planned buildings, with this first building providing 30 student beds, together with site and civil works that will support the broader precinct.

Frequently asked questions
At our UniSQ Toowoomba campus, Stage 1 will deliver Building K, a student accommodation building providing 30 beds, together with site and civil works to support the broader precinct.
The broader concept provides for six new accommodation buildings and up to 180 additional student beds, delivered progressively. Stage 1 is currently approved and funded. Future stages require separate funding, consideration and approval.
UniSQ is targeting a start in late 2026. Depending on procurement and contractor mobilisation, work may begin in early 2027. A construction timeline will be confirmed after a head contractor is appointed.
Timing and allocation arrangements are still being determined. The new building may initially support refurbishment of existing accommodation, so Stage 1 may not immediately increase the number of beds available on campus by 30.
Construction will involve site preparation and civil works. UniSQ will provide advance information about confirmed activities, access changes and other potential impacts as planning progresses.

The new Student Accommodation development is an exciting investment in the future of UniSQ. It will bring new accommodation options and strengthen our vibrant campus community.
During construction, residents of Steele Rudd College should expect some temporary impacts, including construction noise as well as changes to parking arrangements and access routes. While we cannot eliminate disruptions, the Student Accommodation team will be working closely with contractors to minimise impacts wherever possible and ensure noisy works occur during appropriate daytime hours.
All residents will be provided with regular updates about major construction activities and any changes that may affect daily life. If you have any concerns during the construction period, please contact the Student Accommodation team.
