At 31 years old, Joshua is taking exciting steps towards a career change into speech pathology.

“I looked at many universities before I settled on UniSQ. Their Tertiary Preparation Pathway was the best path to university that I saw for myself. UniSQ made it a pain-free experience to apply and begin my studies,” he said.

Joshua is part of the first ever cohort to complete a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) at UniSQ and he is impressed by this inaugural degree.

“The classes and people are the best part of studying. The course content has been well crafted, and the lectures and tutorials are engaging.

“UniSQ actually cares about you and how you are progressing in your studies,” he said.

Even with a supportive team behind you, working and studying can be challenging – for Joshua, thinking about the end goal helps.

“Life is short and I want to do some good while I’m here. Speech pathology is all about communication, swallowing, and practicing compassionate care – changing lives for the better,” he said.

For anyone who is considering taking the leap into a new career, Joshua suggests exploring the options at UniSQ.

“Take a look at the degrees on offer, there are many to choose from if you want to work in allied health. If you are considering speech pathology, I would strongly recommend UniSQ.”
