Overview

  • The Master of Information Technology (Computing Technology) will provide you with industry-relevant skills in computing theory, practice and research. This specialisation is comparable to a Master of Computer Science at other learning institutions.
  • Explore the foundations of IT system administration and learn how to create and implement relational databases.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of client-side and server-side web technology.
  • Gain hands-on experience with AAA (authentication, authorisation and accounting) as well as other security concepts, and explore the ethical and legal issues surrounding security and privacy.

Further study

After successful completion of the Master of Information Technology, you may be eligible to apply for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Acceptance is dependent on your results and completion of certain courses as part of the degree.  

Professional accreditation

The Master of Information Technology is accredited at professional level by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and, through the Seoul Accord, is recognised in other countries. The Seoul Accord is a multi-lateral agreement that allows ACS accreditation to be recognised globally. This means when you graduate, your degree will be recognised by other countries who are members of the Accord.

Entry requirements

  • Completion of an Australian university three year Bachelor degree in any area, or equivalent
    or
  • A minimum of five years’ professional work experience equivalent to a qualification at AQF Level 7.

You may be able to use your work experience and other adjustment factors to increase your selection rank and meet UniSQ's entry requirements.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.
