UniSQ Rugby Excellence Scholarship

In 2026, UniSQ will offer two UniSQ Rugby Excellence Scholarships to support one male and one female student commencing or continuing their studies at UniSQ in an undergraduate degree program.

The scholarship was established in 2025 in partnership with the UniSQ Rugby Club to recognise student-athletes who demonstrate excellence in both rugby and academic life. It reflects the University’s commitment to support emerging talent, encourage a strong, inclusive rugby culture at UniSQ and to nurture well-rounded individuals who contribute to both their sport and the broader community.

Each scholarship will have a maximum value of $6000 to be paid in three instalments.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • be registered or have a registration in progress, and be accepted into the UniSQ Rugby Club by the scholarship application closing date
  • be commencing or continuing their studies full-time at UniSQ in an undergraduate program in Trimester 1 2026
    • continuing students must have a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 4.0 as at the release of results for Trimester 3 2025.
  • be enrolled or intending to enrol on-campus at UniSQ Toowoomba, and/or be a resident of the Toowoomba Local Government Area.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • describe the experiences or influences which have driven your passion for your chosen field of study
    • describe your career goals within your chosen field, including how rugby has influenced your education and career goals, and the impact that you hope to make as a professional
    • discuss your connection to rugby, outlining your involvement, what it means to you, any values or skills gained.
  • complete the sporting profile task within the application outlining your personal sporting achievements.
  • provide documentation supporting claims made in your sporting profile, which can include but not limited to:
    • documentation from sporting authorities
    • signed letters from coaches or managers
    • membership to sporting institutions
    • evidence of training/sporting commitments (e.g., published team lists)
  • provide evidence of academic achievement as directed in the application process:
    • commencing students – final year school report card or post-secondary academic history (transcript of results)
    • continuing students – a copy of your unofficial academic transcript will be uploaded on your behalf, as at the release of results for Trimester 3 2025.
  • provide evidence to show you are a resident of the Toowoomba Local Government Area (refer LGA directory), as directed in the application process.

*It is at the selection panels discretion as to whether a scholarship is not awarded in any given year.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
