J de Lange Surveying Scholarship

In 2026, UniSQ will offer one J de Lange Surveying Scholarship to support a student commencing their studies in the Bachelor of Surveying Technology, or Bachelor of Surveying (Honours). 

Established in 2025 through the founding gifts from the Surveyor’s Trust and the ISAQ Bicentennial Education Foundation, this endowed scholarship celebrates the outstanding contribution of Jack de Lange, whose 40-year career in the spatial information industry spanned roles from field surveyor to senior management in government and private enterprise.

The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage more people to enter the exciting and dynamic world of surveying, which offers a blend of outdoor work, technical skills, and problem-solving opportunities. It aims to inspire the next generation of professionals who enjoy a varied and stimulating work environment.

The scholarship will have a maximum value of $18 000 to be paid over three years.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • describe the experiences or influences which have driven your passion for your chosen field of study
    • describe your career goals within your chosen field, and the impact that you hope to make as a professional
  • provide evidence of academic achievement as directed in the application process:
    • final year school report or post-secondary academic history (transcript of results)
  • provide evidence of your current financial circumstances.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
