Alan Edwards Memorial Scholarship

In 2026, UniSQ will offer one Alan Edwards Memorial Scholarship to support a student continuing their studies in the Bachelor of Theatre.

Alan Edwards AM MBE (1925–2003) was an accomplished actor and the founding Artistic Director of the Queensland Theatre Company in Brisbane. Alan was considered a major contributor to the artistic life of Queensland and was awarded a Member of the British Empire and Member of the Order of Australia for his services to theatre. He was also made an honorary Doctor of Letters by the University of Southern Queensland. The Alan Edwards Memorial Scholarship was established in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the arts community and to theatre at UniSQ. The scholarship will be awarded annually on the basis of merit, to a UniSQ Toowoomba student pursuing studies in Theatre.

The scholarship will have a maximum value of $4000 to be paid in one instalment.

Applicants must:

  • be a domestic student currently residing in Australia
  • be continuing their studies full-time at UniSQ in the Bachelor of Theatre in Trimester 1 2026
  • have, as at the release of results for Trimester 3 2025:
    • a minimum of 12 study units completed and credited towards their current program
    • a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 5.0
  • be enrolled on-campus at UniSQ Toowoomba.

Applicants must:

  • address each personal statement question below (250 words maximum per question):
    • how have your academic experiences shaped your approach to learning, and how will you apply this to your remaining studies? Examples are encouraged.
    • describe your career goals within your chosen field, and the impact that you hope to make as a professional.

* Applicants will also be assessed on academic achievement.

Please Note: If an applicant holds other UniSQ awarded scholarships, this may be taken into consideration in selection. There are some scholarships that cannot be held together.
