HDR Essentials - Preparing for Confirmation of Candidature

Join the Graduate Research School for a HDR student induction session to orientate yourself to the milestones for your program, navigate your student centre, and familiarise yourself with the HDR Researcher Development Framework. This will also be an opportunity for you to meet fellow new students.

This online seminar, delivered by the Graduate Research School, provides HDR students with the essential skills, insights, and practical guidance needed to prepare a strong Confirmation of Candidature. Alongside core information about requirements, expectations, and best‑practice approaches, the session will also feature recently confirmed HDR candidates who will share their firsthand experiences, offering real examples of what worked well, what they found challenging, and what they wish they’d known earlier. To complement the student perspective, the webinar also includes insights from an experienced supervisor/panellist, who will speak to what reviewers look for, and how candidates can position their research confidently and clearly. Together, these perspectives provide a well‑rounded understanding of the Confirmation process and support students to approach this milestone with clarity and confidence.
