Policies often aim to create healthy and active communities, but how often do we look back to see whether this has been achieved?
You are invited to hear insights about Active Springfield Neighbourhoods on Thursday 30 July, 12.00pm - 1.00pm (online).
Active Springfield Neighbourhoods is a case study examining whether neighbourhoods planned to support active living are achieving that goal in practice. Undertaken as part of a PhD at the University of Southern Queensland, the project was conducted with Queensland Health, in partnership with Ipswich City Council, the Heart Foundation and the Office of the Queensland Government Architect.
The case study compares two neighbourhoods in greater Springfield, one older and one newer, to assess whether planning intentions were evidence-informed, delivered in the built environment, reflected in residents’ experiences, and associated with physical activity outcomes.
Hear more about this real-world approach to assessing policy impact, and how looking back at what has been planned, delivered and experienced can help inform healthier, more active communities.
