Build the confidence to support others by learning how to recognise the signs of mental health problems and respond in a safe, supportive way. By developing your knowledge of mental health and gaining practical, evidence‑based strategies, you’ll be better equipped to help someone who may be experiencing a mental health problem or going through a mental health crisis.
This training empowers you to identify symptoms early and take appropriate action, so you can support a fellow student with care, confidence, and clarity.
This course is delivered in two parts:
- Self-paced e-learning (online modules taking 6-8 hours to complete) and
- Face-to-face workshop (delivered after the e-learning component is completed)
You'll learn how to:
- Approach someone about their mental health
- Recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems
- Provide effective, appropriate support and understand treatment options
- Connect people to support and where to get help when you are helping someone
- Respond if you are worried someone may be suicidal.
