Get to know your UniSQ
At UniSQ, our values of respect, integrity, and excellence shape the way we learn, connect, and grow - both individually and as a community.
These values are at the heart of your student experience. They guide how we treat each other, how we approach our studies, and how we contribute to a positive and inclusive university culture.
Your responsibilities as a UniSQ student
When you accept your offer and enrol in your program at UniSQ, you agree to follow the University’s legislation, policies, and procedures. Part of this is the Student Expectations and Responsibilities Policy which outlines what you can expect at UniSQ and what is expected of you.
The Student General Conduct Policy outlines the standards of behaviour expected from all students, in your academic work and in how you interact with others. Breaches of this policy can have serious consequences, including suspension or exclusion, so it’s important to understand your responsibilities and act in ways that support a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Safer Communities
UniSQ is committed to creating a safe and respectful environment for all students. Through our Safer Communities initiative, we offer support and guidance if you experience or witness concerning behaviour, including sexual assault, harassment, bullying, or discrimination.
Everyone has a role to play in building a respectful community. If something doesn’t feel right, you can make a disclosure confidentially with the Safer Communities team and access support.
Starting uni comes with a lot of questions - and that’s totally normal! The iconnect team is made up of friendly students who’ve been trained to help you with anything from enrolment and study systems to finding support services. They can also help connect you to specialist UniSQ teams if needed.
You can chat with them online, give them a call, send an email, or drop by in person. You’ll find their contact details on the Current Students homepage, and at the bottom of pages like this one.
If a family member or friend wants to contact UniSQ on your behalf, the Student Authority to Act Form (PDF 150 KB) will need to be completed and returned to UniSQ.
As a UniSQ student, you have access to our three main campuses, as well as our UniSQ Brisbane location.
You can come to campus at any time during your studies to make use of the student facilities, including computers, wifi, the Library, and study spaces. Explore what each campus location has to offer, including campus maps and travel and parking information.
If you aren’t located near a UniSQ campus, you might be near a Regional University Study Hubs or Suburban University Study Hub (SUSH) where you have access to practical support and advice, study spaces equipped with computers, wifi, and more.
University is a great place to meet new people, make friends, and build connections that last beyond your studies. Whether it’s through classes, clubs, events, or shared projects, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and find your community.
Student events
The student events calendar offers you a full view of what's currently happening at UniSQ - both on-campus and online.
Student clubs and societies
UniSQ clubs and societies are a great way to meet people, explore your interests, and build skills for your future. With a wide range of options, there’s likely a club for something you're passionate about - and if not, you can even start your own with support from the UniSQ Student Guild.
Student representative opportunities
Students as Partners (SaP) is a great way to connect with others at UniSQ, while making a positive impact on university life. Through SaP, you can join student groups, work on collaborative projects, or represent your peers on boards and committees. It’s a chance to meet like-minded people, share ideas, and help shape the UniSQ experience together. You can also contact your student representative if you have feedback, ideas, or concerns.
Peer Mentoring (PALs)
PAL Communities are a great way to meet other students in your study area and get support from trained peer facilitators (PALs) - students who’ve been where you are and know what it’s like. These sessions are relaxed, welcoming, and focused on helping you connect, share ideas, and study smarter. Find out more on the PALs page.
