David Fairman has a long list of accomplishments under his belt, both locally and internationally. Since joining the Royal Australian Air Force in 1993, David has compiled accolades including a Bachelor degree and two master degrees – Master of Project Management and Master of Business Administration, both from UniSQ.

Since 2005, David has been working internationally in the fields of information and cyber security, raising his profile for the last 19 years working with other companies including the Royal Bank of Scotland, where he lived and worked in the UK, the Netherlands and the USA. Currently, David is working as Chief Information Security Officer for the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). His work entails security strategy, oversight and governance globally across RBC. He is also an advisor to the Canadian Government on national Cyber Security strategy and policy development. 

David sits on the boards of two non-profit organisations: the Canadian Cyber Threat Exchange and the Security Advisor Alliance, the latter of which he helped develop a cyber security curriculum for US high schools with, reaching 2.4 million students. Recognised as a thought leader in the field, David has been a key note speaker at a number of global risk and security forums, influencing peers, industry and government. In 2017, David was appointed Adjunct Professor for the University of Toronto, and more recently also for New York University to help develop a post-graduate Cyber Security curriculum for the two institutions. David has been named as one of the Top 10 CISOs to know, and has published work in the fields of cyber risk and financial technology.
