Career outcomes
This specialisation equips professionals to work with individuals who have experienced trauma, including abuse, violence, loss, and crisis. Trauma focused counselling roles could include:
- case manager
- refugee and asylum seeker support worker
- victim support officer
- psychosocial recovery coach (NDIS)
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP) counsellor
- correctional services counsellor or support worker
- crisis intervention counsellor or support worker
- grief and loss counsellor or support worker
- domestic and family violence counsellor.
Graduates from the Master of Counselling will be able to register as a counsellor with ARCAP, and with a specialisation in Trauma Focused Practice, you will be prepared for a role as a trauma counsellor within various industries including social work, human services, policing and criminal justice, education and health.
Professional accreditation
The Master of Counselling (Qualifying) is accredited by the Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA) and the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) which enables registration as a Counsellor with the Australian Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (ARCAP).
