Research Masterclass - Strengths, Collaboration and Doctoral Studies

This will be an interactive, videos on, get ready to share and work in virtual teams webinar. The activities will enable researchers, especially research students, to build knowledge, skills and a capacity to form, maintain and protect healthy and functioning collaborations. Focus will be on connecting to strengths, what these are, and how they can be fostered. We’ll work through practical activities to support you to be your best, to foster others to be their best, and to address any little hiccups that can come our way. 

Participants will learn to:

  • Identify and articulate individual strengths.
  • Develop an understanding into how strengths contribute to effective collaboration and team dynamics in a doctoral research setting.
  • Develop an understanding into how strengths contribute to effective collaboration and team dynamics in a doctoral research setting.
  • Build practical skills in applying strengths to collaborative situations
  • Develop strategies to navigate challenges that may arise in collaborative efforts, addressing potential conflicts, communication breakdowns, or other obstacles. 
Dr Narelle Lemon is a Professor and VC Professoriate Research Fellow Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
 
Narelle is an interdisciplinary scholar across the fields of arts, education, and positive psychology and is particularly interested in the lived experience of being an academic - care, collaboration, mindful and supportive practices. She is the co-author of Reframing and Rethinking Collaboration in Higher Education and Beyond: A Practical Guide for Doctoral Students and Early Career Researchers (Routledge) and the series editor for Wellbeing and self-care in higher education: Embracing positive solutions (Routledge) that is attracting much attention and supporting the dialogue of self-care being worthy of our attention. 
 
Narelle’s contribution to the field of education has also been acknowledged through a 2019 National Teaching Citation, awarded by Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT), in scholarship of learning and teaching for sustained development of curricula and resources to support the integration of social media into initial teacher education to benefit student learning and engagement. Narelle's blogs, posts, grams and podcasts as a part of her networked scholar practices.
