In 2022, Buffalo fly (Haematobia irritans exigua) was ranked as the most important pest of economic significance to the Australian cattle industry. Buffalo flies are a persistent and difficult ectoparasite issue to manage in intensive and extensive cattle production systems in Australia, particularly in QLD, costing the industry an estimated AUD $170.3 million annually (James 2015; James 2021; Shephard 2022). The aim of this research is to develop an automated, individualized dosing system for applying and recording cattle treatments in remote locations.
