First Nations people are up to four times more likely than other Australians to develop diabetes, according to Diabetes Australia. World Diabetes Day (November 14) recognises the urgent need to promote and improve human health.

• Dr Raelene Ward is a registered nurse and First Nations researcher who has been diagnosed with diabetes. Dr Ward can discuss what can be done to improve the lives of people affected by all types of diabetes and those at risk among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, as well as her personal experience battling the disease.
