Winning the local Lab
In Australia, Lab participants compete in state heats, with the winners travelling to Canberra to participate in the Falling Walls Lab Australia Finale on 1 September 2025. In 2025, there are six heats taking place across Australia.
Three winners from the Falling Walls Australia Finale are chosen to represent the country in Berlin, among 97 other finalists selected from Labs across the globe.
Winning the Global Finale
Winners win a cash prize and earn the Science Breakthrough of the Year title in the Emerging Talents category. Winners present their breakthrough projects on the Falling Walls Breakthrough Stage on 9 November 2025, which hosts leading experts, changemakers, and luminaries.
