A research scholarship has opened up a world of opportunity for Bachelor of Science student, Anika Alam. Anika is currently working in plant research, plant breeding and genetic engineering.

‘The research techniques we use in plants are similar techniques used in human research. My dream is to do something in brain research, to uncover and understand more about health conditions, especially mental disorders.'

Anika’s scholarship allowed her to travel to Brisbane to volunteer at an international conference where researchers from 30 different countries presented their findings. Anika believes this experience will invaluable when applying for graduate jobs in the future.

'Always look for opportunities, even if they’re not directly related to your studies, you never know what could come of them. If you’re willing to sacrifice and put in the hard work, you can do anything.'
