The Institute for Resilient Regions (IRR) conducts multidisciplinary collaborative research the helps regional communities embrace and adapt to change while maintaining their unique identities. The Institute’s vision is to be the leading Australian research institute addressing the needs of communities. This is achieved through regional research partnerships that develop and sustain diversified and adaptive economies, healthy communities, and strong diverse cultural identities that underpin a thriving regional Australia that is a desirable place to work and live.

The long-term viability of regional communities is dependent on diversified workforces, flexible economies and behavioural adaptations to sustain healthy populations, and strong cultural and social capital.

IRR draws together research expertise to address complex issues, challenges and opportunities in regional communities.

SQNNSW Innovation Hub

The Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales Hub is one of eight national Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hubs, a flagship of the multi-billion-dollar Future Drought Fund.
